We need to protect our wages, benefits and pensions because we’ve earned them through our solidarity. The employers benefit from the hard work Union members put in day to day, and the workers deserve their share.
I needed surgery on my hand. If I didn’t have my Union health benefits, the out-of-pocket expenses would have been too much for me and my job wouldn’t have been there after I recovered.

I love the job security and health benefits my Union provides me. It might not seem like a big deal to have two days off in a row every week, but I’m sure it is a big deal to my non-Union counterparts.
We can’t afford to lose our good wages and health benefits. We make these companies profitable and we deserve our fair share.

I used to work at Walmart where my work schedule was always hectic. Sometimes I would work until 1 a.m. and have to be back at work at 6 a.m.
I am proud to be picketing for UFCW 8 now and standing up for dignity in the grocery industry.

I’ve worked for just about every grocery employer in Northern California and the Union has been constantly in my working life.
I don’t think non-Union workers realize how bad they have it right now. I’m concerned with the direction many companies are going. In this economy, we cannot afford to lose what we have.
