Talks are continuing between the company and the Solidarity Alliance of UFCW Locals 5, 8 and 648.  These negotiations are difficult and complex, but they are civil and are progressing slowly.

The recent strike authorization by UFCW 8 members at Raley’s as well asSave Mart’s issuance of its “last, best and final” offer could affect Safeway negotiations.

Raley’s and Save Mart have proposed contributions rates that are not sufficient to sustain the plan design we have structured.

In order to reach a comprehensive settlement, all three employers must agree on the structure of the health care plan and contribution rate.
